Surviving LOCKDOWN

Disaster has struck, and we’re left without spare income for the next few months, with no way to pay the bills. What can we do?

  • Polish your portfolios and CV, update your IG, LinkedIn and create your portfolio database. In this case, can use social media or free blog page. (It doesn’t require cost) If you already have your portfolio setup online, think about improving based on data and create content calendars for future months ahead. Don’t just look at how others are doing it, but how you can set yourself apart from your competition. Run polls on your IG for content your audience wants.
  • No on location shooting or job can be done for now, so look out for post production work. For instance, photo edits, album making, video edit, graphic design. If you are not good at it then learn now since you have time. Look up for production houses in Malaysia and internationally. Send them an email offering your services. Some of them will need freelance editors to work with a better rate (here comes ur CV and linked in). Or, you can sell your images in stock photos/getty images, shutter stock and etc. Time to get back on these platforms. For video editors, time to look up for small business owners and make a promo video for them with existing materials they have to boost their advert. Be creative!
  • Construct promos/discount campaigns for jobs next year and collect deposit booking.
  • Professionals can do online workshop for home folks to expand their photography skills, or even a practical session. Charge by an hour, something minimal and keep it going. At least something than nothing.
